REET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the REET eligibility criteria to be eligible for the exam. Failing to meet these criteria at any stage can lead to the cancellation of their candidature and a lack of certificate issuance. Thus, it is crucial to meet the various parameters of the REET eligibility for 2023.
 
While the age limit may be consistent for both primary and upper primary levels, the educational requirements differ based on the specific post the candidates have applied for. In addition to age and educational qualifications, candidates must achieve the minimum qualifying marks as specified in the REET eligibility criteria for their graduation or school education

REET Educational Qualification

To embark on the examination journey, aspiring candidates must meet the distinct minimum educational qualifications stipulated in the REET eligibility criteria. These qualifications vary according to the specific Level/Paper for which candidates are applying. In order to complete the REET application and sit for the exam, candidates must satisfy one of the following educational criteria.
 

The educational qualifications required for REET Level 1 are as follows:

  1. • Senior Secondary or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in the final year of a 2nd-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any recognized name)
  2. • Senior Secondary or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in the final year of a 4th-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  3. • Senior Secondary or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in the final year of a 2nd-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  4. • Graduation with the candidate having passed or is appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any recognized name).
  5. Note: B.Ed candidates are not eligible for REET Level 1, as per NCTE guidelines.

The educational qualifications required for REET Level 2 are as follows:

• Graduation with the candidate having passed or is appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any recognized name).
 
• Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education.
 
• Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education, as per the NCTE Regulations issued from time to time.
 
• Senior Secondary or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
 
• Senior Secondary or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
 
• Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks, and the candidate has passed or is appearing in a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
 
• Graduation with the candidate having passed or is appearing in the final year of a 2-year Bachelor of Education (by any recognized name).
 
Note: Commerce candidates are also eligible to apply for Level 2 under the Social Studies section, as per NCTE guidelines.

The REET 2023 Exam Pattern

• The exam paper for REET 2023 will consist of 150 questions.
 
• There is no provision for negative marking in the REET Eligibility Test.
 
• Candidates will have a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the exam.
 
• The examination will be conducted in offline mode, with separate papers for Primary and Upper Primary Teachers.
 
• Level 1 is for teachers of class 1st to 5th, while Level 2 is for teachers of class 6th to 8th.
